Located in Brevard County, Florida, the city of Cocoa is considered part of the Palm Bay–Melbourne–Titusville Metro area. Cocoa was founded by fishermen very early in Florida's history, with the first families arriving in 1860. A post office was established at Magnolia Point and the city's first commercial building was erected in 1881. First plats of the new settlement were made in 1882 under the name "Indian River City"; however, that name was deemed unacceptable to the U.S. Postal authorities who claimed it was too long for use on a postmark.

The origin of the city's name is uncertain, but what IS certain is that while in Cocoa, you have two conveniently located self storage options, including Guardian Self Storage-King Street #303 (2845 King Street #303), located in southwest Cocoa, halfway between South Regina and South Burnett, and parallel to Parrish Roads.  The second location, in southeast Cocoa, is Uncle Bob's Self Storage-Cocoa Boulevard (801 North Cocoa Boulevard) at the intersection of Hillcrest Drive with North Cocoa Boulevard, next to the railroad tracks.
