Fort Pierce, also known as the "Sunrise City" (sister to San Francisco, California, the "Sunset City"), is located in St. Lucie County, Florida, and is part of the Port St. Lucie, Florida Metro area. Other nicknames include "Heart of the Citrus Region" and "Birthplace of the Navy Frogman." The Experimental Oculina Research Reserve preserves the Oculina Banks, a reef of ivory bush coral off the coast of Fort Pierce. Later, this area was closed to all bottom fishing, being re-designated as a research reserve. In 2000, the marine-protected area was expanded, prohibiting all gears that caused mechanical disruption to the habitat.
But whether you are in Fort Pierce to harvest citrus, become a Navy Frogman, or check out the Oculina Banks, this city has two conveniently-located self storage facilities available to serve you, including Public Storage-Okeechobee Road (5221 Okeechobee Road), which is west of the city's center and just before Okeechobee (highway 70) intersects South Jenkins Road (highway 611.) If you find yourself closer to the southeast section of town, look for Stor-all -South US 1 (3125 South US 1), just south of the intersection of Edwards Road and South Federal Highway (US 1), roughly twelve blocks south of Sable Palm Shopping Center.
